**Official** Afghanistan in Bangladesh 2016

Bowling hasn't been been superb, Afghanistan just keep getting out to the balls that would normally disappear for 6.

That one might have been going down.

Afghans could've won it keeping the ball on the ground instead of going for big shots. Nabi and Stanikzai are experienced enough to know that.

No question Shakib won them that game, Afghanistan were on the cusp of coasting home if they had a good 35-40 over period, instead they were left with a final 10 that they weren't quite good enough to get.

Bangladesh need to have a proper look at their fielding if they're going to win any other series this winter

Really should have won this more convincingly than by just 7 runs.

Excellent last few overs from Taskin and Rubel. Shakib was superb throughout.

Fielding sloppy. End of innings batting needs more work. I think the XI is fine tbh; maybe drop Imrul for Mossadek but I wouldn't make any other changes. Just need to lower-middle order to raise their game. Can maybe afford to drop Rubel for Nasir and squeeze 10 overs out of Nasir/Soumya/Mahmadullah/Shabbir. Seems a waste to have so many allrounders and not use them.

'Experienced' right. Not basic cricket intelligence, but experience - like how Shahid Afridi always played perfectly to the percentages as he got older.

They needed 77 off the last 10. You're not getting those in singles and twos with the way Afghanistan bat. They're a bash or block side.

Unfortunately their bashes at the end went straight down fielder's throat.

28 off 24. You can get those by keeping the ball on the ground. Yea they are a team that usually adopts bash or block tactics but then you're on your first bilateral tour against a test playing nation and at stake was an opportunity to win your first ever ODI in a bilateral series, so was expecting a wee bit more application from the two experienced batters.

Shakib's over killed the chase. Nabi probably was looking for singles and played down the over but could not find the gaps iirc. That put pressure on him to go big in the next over. If he could find singles in that over, they would have won i guess

no

There's more to scoring effectively than just deciding to, ftr

I could have decided to hit five singles and two off every over if I were out in the middle. Wouldn't have managed it though

Cant agree completely that afghanistan are a block or bash side. The big partnership came from picking up singles/doubles. Shahzad is block or bash and maybe Zadran

That Taskin over in the 47th sounds ridiculously good. 1 run off it when they needed 28 off 24. Jesus.
