I have not paid too much attention to anyone's FC stats. Why? Is that important?

In previous ICC games I believe the players abilities were linked almost entirely to their FC average. Not sure if that's the case with 2013, though.
And there are a few quality Test players with less than amazing FC stats, like averaging in the 40's with the bat or high 20's with the ball.

Not especially. Prior got more runs as a number 7 whereas Stewart was best as an opener who didn't keep wicket.

I'd like to mention at this point that injuries will be a thing in this sim. So be sure to select backup specialists/all-rounders as well as someone who could take the gloves in an emergency, if you haven't already. There will be 14 rounds in which you will select your playing squad, followed by a 15th round in which you will choose your 'home nation.
If people want, I'd be happy to provide a list of unselected players that the game either recognizes as a 'keeper or a 'keeper-batsman before the start of round 12. Just let me know.
At the end of the draft stage I will provide a full list of tournament rules (including scoring system) & info on the operating process.
