One Don = Two Cooks

Yep.

The difference between Bradman and Cook is bigger than the difference between Cook and Wood (and any other half decent player). But he's not worth two very good players full stop, which is what the thread implied.
But he is. See, Cook and Cook, you get that horrible, stodgy prop on the front foot and a batting style which looks like a baby giraffe trying to take his first steps. And they'll average, what 90 plus runs for you per innings added together. Bradman gets that himself, and frees you up to pick, say one Cook instead of having to pick two, which let's face it is an awful thing to contemplate.

Imagine if you had to pick two Warners. There couldn't be that much room on one team for two such massive amounts of bravado. The team would collapse in on itself under the weight of so much misplaced hubris. It would be awful. You'd have two blokes slog wildly at spinners, hit the ball straight up in the air and walk off shaking their head like they can't believe it actually happened. It would be very bad.

Likewise, you couldn't have two Tendulkars, because even if they made two Tendulkars, there's only one number 4 spot in the batting order, and one of the Tendulkars would have to run off and cry because he couldn't bat there. It wouldn't be good for team harmony.

You couldn't pick two of the One True AB, either, Mainly because there's only One True AB, so that ends the argument.

Read the thread title as One Don = Two ****s........and thought to myself, harsh but fair.

One Don would be worth comfortably more than 2 Cooks, given that you can pick another player instead of the second Cook.

However if you read the question as some have, ie. that your Bradman counts as 2 players in the 11 and you only get 9 others, then it's about even

Yeah, but why would anyone think that?

Questioner: "You can have one Peking Duck Pancake or two Pork Buns. Which would you choose?"

Standard CW over-thinker who wants something simple made complicated in a vain effort to appear moderately bright: "****, if I choose the one Peking Duck it must mean I'll have to go without breakfast later in the week".

Questioner: "................. "
