One gets the feeling that if a CAT Digger were to play cricket, it would bowl a lot like Ferguson.

Bloke just looks like a giant hulking mass going through the crease.

Agree hence the Mark Gillespie comparison. He was always a rig.
Mark Gillespie for some reason, made me think thats what Mitchell Johnson would bowl like with a high arm action...and right handed.

Johnson also a rig ftr.

I went down and watched the first 90 minutes of today's play between Auckland and Wellington. Ferguson was definately a class apart in his bowling group, but that isn't really saying much with three mid 120's medium pacers, a crappy leggie and a guy in Hutchinson who I have no idea how he's still a thing at this level. He was the worst of the lot from what I saw.

I have liked the look of Ferguson from the little I have seen over the past 12 months though. He set Marshall up really well today, pushed square leg back and straight away had him stuck on the crease.

What sort of gas do you reckon he gets it through at? About the same as Matt Henry? Late 130s, touching on 140..

140, he definately has some wheels behind him. But yeah Matt Henry type speeds wouldn't surprise me.

Was pretty surprised to see him up sticks to Auckland, and then get a first class spot straight away. Scored some important runs in the first innings though ... but less said about the bowling figures ...

They picked up Cody Andrews too who wasn't up to much with Northern Districts.

I find Auckland as a whole, bar Ferguson and Robbie O'Donnell (who I've always expected something out of) completely boring. For whatever reason they seem enamoured with picking as many bits and pieces medium pacers as they can, which they have done over the last two years with de Grandhomme and Grobb. I don't know how good Hicks is with the willow but his bowling looks about the same as the two mentioned. Then you have Nicol, bleh, Raval who I don't really see anything worth talking about and Guptill-Bunce who at 26 has just started his FC career.

Perhaps Steve can tell us what's going on but they seem to be letting the talented guys leave and keeping the less so ones around.

NZ needs quotas.

There, I said it.

Quota's to ensure only 1 bits and pieces player is picked and bats no higher than 7. The top 6 all have to be specialist batsmen. Make them live on the merits of their chosen discipline.

the problem is they do. franklin, munro, cdg and all the other techniqueless wonder allrounders justify their spots with big runs at five and six. Munro even broke his own law by tonning up at #4.

Munro's Law - runs scored at position #5 or below in a FC innings don't count - needs to be more strictly followed when rating players.

Nah **** Munro's law; lets talk about Tastle's 195. Get him in for Nicholls.

Lol at the Ben Smith dismissal - Viljoen's awful action on first change and bowling the eightth over of the season, Smith's horrible no-feet prod and then his dissent after being given caught behind.

Seifert is playing a pretty slow knock here which is unusual for him. Nice to see he can bat at different speeds.

You'll never guess how Jeets got Nicol out just now. Jeets having a good innings too.
