And for good measure we should also go the most memorable/best remembered score under 50

Whatever it takes!!!
Literally was gonna post the same.. The twin 50s at the Sabina Park pitch in 2006 were master pieces... There was a 45 by Lara back in the 1998 series at Barbados too. On a track where India were bowled out for 81 the same day I think.. He looked like he was batting in a batsman's paradise.

Len Hutton had a 37 worthy enough to make the cut for his cricinfo write-up so that must be up there too

Gavaskar 90-odd against Imran's Pakistan sometime in the late '80s is quite famous, isn't it? Bit before my time...

Laxman's 60-odd chasing 155 against the Aussies in 2001 was also a great knock. Dravid's 70-something in the Adelaide game where he made 233 in the first innings. Sachin's 60-odd and 70-odd in Mumbai in 2001 were superb innings also.

And obviously Sehwag's 80-something against England in 2008.

This 80 from Chris Cairns 4th Test: England v New Zealand at The Oval, Aug 19-22, 1999 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo would have to be up there in terms of series defining 50s.

With the series at 1-1 heading into the 4th Test at the Oval, NZ were 6-39 in their 2nd innings with an overall lead of about 120 when he came to the crease.

Word on the street is his assault on Tufnell gave the spinner the yips for about 6 months following...

You can watch the Tufnell murder take place from 39:04 of the video...

Wow, that was some of the cleanest hitting I've ever seen. Beautiful.
