Nobody talks about him today either. It's just when India are wiping the floor with someone in tests played in India.

The thing is, 10-20 years from now, nobody will be talking about Ashwin. He won't be remembered as anything more than just another bowler.
Once his bowling is exposed for the fraud it is, Ravichandran Ashwin (B.Tech) will join ISRO and bring men to Mars. His offspin will thrive on the dustbowls there.

30 years from now India will complain about Martian doctored pitches being too spin-friendly. Mars wickets will make Pune look like a road.

I think stats for all spinners today flatter them not just Ash. This is the worst era of batting against spin since I have started following the game.

Here's Ashwin doing well in england in a county game:

He is better than most and is one of the rare few offies to bowl with a legal action in the last 20 years. Gets **** on way too much because he isn't doing what all time greats did in test cricket. Just rate him as a very good bowler and accept that he will probably win a few tests eventually if he isn't dropped in away tests every other game.

And England still can't find a decent one to put on the park:(

Ravi Ashwin is one of the luckiest bowlers of all time. I've never seen anyone have to work as little as him for these wickets. Put some of the worst players of spin on the best pitches to bowl spin on in the history of the game and you get records like these. Awful stuff and thoroughly undeserved.
ever heard of uncovered pitches? ever heard of usman khawaja?

He's basically the Indian Anderson. Excellent and consistent matchwinner in conditions that suit him. Whether he can replicate Jimmy's longevity remains to be seen.

Ashwin made his test debut on 6-Nov-2011. Since then,

Batting average of Indians in India: 40
Batting average of away players in India: 26

" the best pitches to bowl spin on in the history of the game " my foot!

like nobody talks about Murali now?

Ya obviously, people only talk about glamorous stars who had Hollywood gfs. That's how joe people think. Look around you - if 100 people are talking about Warne maybe 1 is talking about Murali - that doesn't mean anything. Murali was the better bowler in any format by a huge huge distance.

Whether he can replicant Jimmy's quality does not, however, remain to be seen.

Ashwin has some ridiculously good numbers as an allrounder away, even if you ignore his insane home record. Averages just over 30 with bat and ball and takes 4.5 wickets per match. Hasn't exactly bowled at stellar bats much tbf though.
