It's a snowball effect. This second interview controversy would never have happened if not for the overwhelming media response to the first one, Gayle's just trolling for the attention and the media keep eating it up.

Obvious thing to do is just leave it alone and stop giving the guy attention but you just know the media love having it to write about and are going to pretend outrage. And it just keeps going.
