Head following the grand tradition of messy Aussie lefties moving to the most miserable home ground in England.

Saker gone, some interesting names being thrown about.

Matthew Mott favourite, Andrew McDonald, Chris Rogers, Peter Moores.
A few media people pushing the barrow of Helmot and Berry, but I'd be surprised if they go back to guys who have lost their jobs in previous cracks at it.
Bring back Shippherd!

Ergh. Hopefully they pick a couple of experienced heads this time. I'm not sure how much there is to be gained from playing with a bunch of other young guys and getting smacked nine times out of ten. I think it did a bit for Cartwright's career but I don't think anyone else saw immediate benefit, even those who went on to play for states/franchises later in the summer.

Yeah, the CA XI really needs to feature Johan Botha, and maybe see if Haddin/Hussey would play as specialist bats and coach on the side.

Just to add to Cartwright, I think Swepson and Wildermuth looked promising after debuting for the CA XI.

I would personally make the CA XI follow Men's Olympic Football rules: Under 23's with a maximum of 3 above that age.

Another option would be to try and get say M.Hussey for the matches in WA, Symonds for the QLD matches and Haddin for the NSW leg of the tournament as this may get a few extra people watching.

Your not going to have state squads at full strength,we are touring S Africa.
So a Cricket Australia xl could do well.
Their is a lot of young talent coming through the system.

Hey everyone, predict that a season ago.

Mennie had some good seasons in the past (though granted around the time every seam bowler and his dog were getting good figures) tbf.

Still a bit surprising. Though I'm not sure who would've predicted Renshaw, Swepson, Lehmann or Tremain a season ago either.

No they couldn't. They're still going to all be rejects who couldn't get into their state sides and they're going to be annihilated.

They're hardly the most surprising. No one would have even heard of Swepson or Renshaw a season ago.
