lol, That you earnestly state "He got runs in Australia" as if that's some sort of achievement these days with the roads being produced there.
Right so if he scores runs in Australia it's cause the pitches are roads, but if he fails in Australia it's because he's an ftb. Pretty sound logic.

Will now be opening together for the Mumbai Indians for the remaining IPL 9 season. Will be interesting to see how much they can bully bowlers (when they are on song). 300 in a T20?

Rohit gets way too much hate

his limited overs batting is tremendous and it's not like he's been completely useless in Tests. Guptill's played 40 Tests and still averages under 30.

Rohit's been in and out of the side for less than half that many games

Both are equally good against all kinds of bowlings. Guptill is more helpful to his team. While building innings, Rohit needs more help of a partner than Guptill. Rohit has a better shot selection, footwork and timing - and is better in hitting all over the ground. Rohit is more bold and solid. As a top order batsman, Guptill is better. Rohit has a higher standard - Hard Comparison - I go for rohit.

And Rohit has more potential in future.

Nah, Rohit is **** in Tests. He doesn't get a lot of hate for his ODIs or T20s..
I can understand that he's mostly played on roads in high-scoring games, and that an average in the low 30s is hence quite poor, but a lot of very good players have had worse starts to their career.

He's only played 16 games. I wouldn't be surprised if Langer, Hayden, Waugh etc all had just as average starts to their careers

Can't compare him to Langer and Hayden who developed their games. Then you could say the same thing for any player who isn't successful in tests. He isn't successful in tests for a reason. He doesn't have the discipline to avoid poor shots. He will play a few good shots and then hit a lazy bad shot and people will say, oh **** Rohit does it again. However it is a real issue - concentration and it cannot be developed instantly. Now he can play longer innings in fc cricket which shows that he is struggling with when it comes to higher skill level bowlings in tests compared to the run of the mill Ranji bowling. He is no good and only a miracle will salvage his test career. Weird part is he will keep getting picked as he is 'promising'.

Rohit also spent a long time in domestic cricket before getting his chance and failing. Not really comparable to Hayden or Langer, who showed promise but sucked young, yet came back after having a stack of FC cricket under their belts to be seriously good players.

Would say Guptil is better at T20s, same as or marginally worse at ODis and equally crap at tests.

Cigarette paper at most between them. Two top limited overs operators though.
