I don't think Smith's class is in question for a second, but slightly opportunist of you to quote 'Boult's NZ' when every cricket fan in the world knows he's been dreadfully out of form and has been a shadow of his former self. Hasn't faced either of them at their best. Also faced Steyn as the #6 batsman in a batting unit that included Hussey, Ponting, Clarke, Warner, Watson, with a rampant Warner who averaged 90 during the series and showed he was a world class opener.

I really can't pick between the two of these guys tbh. I felt so lucky watching KW score that ton in Brissy but Smitteh's a helluva good batsman too. Hopefully we see more brilliance from Williamson tomorrow, has the potential, even at this stage of the series to influence the outcome.

Watson opened the batting ahead of Smith during the RSA series in question, the more I see you post, the more I'm sure this is your debut test series as a cricket watcher. Smith batted 6/7, Hussey batted 5, Ponting 4.
