Whatever it takes!!!
Lol.. have you seen Parthiv keep? He has not improved at all and was struggling for MI even in the last IPL at times. And as a batsman, he is very good in these conditions as an opener but at 5, he is one of the absolute worst I can think of. Why not try someone like Naman Ojha who played tests for us, or Robin Uthappa who has done it on the international stage before in the middle order and was awesome in the last few IPLs?

It is of course a stop gap. Dhoni's injury scare is hopefully not serious.

And he's presently the best in-form keeper-bat in domestic scene. He has had a very good year in limited over matches and T20s and captained his side to Vijay Hazare trophy win. So I guess he is entitled for this recall but agreed he is more value at the top - a Gambhir like player - than in the middle order.

I don't know why Sanju Samson has falled so badly. I know he's had a rough domestic season, hopefully the kid picks up sooner than later and fire in the IPL.

First things first, Parthiv is just not a good keeper. He never was and is still not. And that would be a step down from Dhoni. And as I said, he is just not the right guy to bat at 5 for us. He is very good if he is opening but we have folks for that. So even as a stop gap I would rather have picked Uthappa.

Yeah it's a silly pick IMO, especially given this tournament is sadly just a warmup. If you're treating it as a warmup then you'd be better off picking a specialist keeper and sticking him down the order so the blokes actually in the squad get a proper hit. If you're treating it as a proper tournament then it shouldn't be god damn T20s instead of ODIs.

Sarcasm.

I'm putting forward the cynical view that the worst outcome for Dhoni here would be selecting a player who actually performs well and ends up as a serious candidate to replace him long term in T20.

Dhoni probably has a say in selection, so.....

Oh ok.. took you literally earlier. Sorry about that. But I still think it is a cynical view and I am pretty sure Dhoni wont be thinking on such lines.

I don't dispute that. Uthappa would've been a better choice. Seems like politico at work.

Greenish pitch with overcast conditions. Abu Hider should play instead of Arafat Sunny. He can extract swing and will be more effective here.
