4. Lucky Denton (1905-1910)

6. Trevor Goddard (1955-1970)
7. Terry Jenner (1970-1975)

11. Ken Farnes (1934-1939)

For the amount of time I couldn't invest in this I'm surprised I made a team which could go out and play. I'll be surprised if I get many votes at all. Thanks for running the draft though

International Vice-Captain
Thanks everyone for sticking with this draft which had its flaws & was frustrating at times, but I felt it was fun & unique overall.

After all, with all the talk recently here on CW about the same old names getting selected over & over in drafts, just take a look at all the names I can think of off the top of my head that didn't get selected. It's not like they weren't available either.

SF Barnes
<rest of list snipped>

First draft I ever took part in, and it was great fun.

SF Barnes made his debut in the only Test in 1901, which I don't think was anyone's final Test, so he was virtually unpickable. I would guess the other unpicked big names also started (or maybe ended) in a "bad" year.

International Vice-Captain
Graham Gooch (1975-1995)
Jeffrey Stollmeyer (1939-1955)
Ernest Tyldesley (1921-1929)
KS Ranjitsinhji (1896-1902)
Allan Steel (1880-1888)
Warwick Armstrong (1902-1921)
Les Ames (1929-1939)
Shaun Pollock (1995-2008)
Fred Titmus (1955-1975)
George Lohmann (1886-1896)
Peter Siddle (2008-date)

Pretty solid line-up, bats very deep (they all made at least one FC hundred) and plenty of variety in the bowling.
Obviously Ames is the wicket-keeper, but I guess I should confirm that Armstrong is the captain. Pollock and Lohmann open the bowling, with Siddle as first change; Titmus and Armstrong as the off-spin/leg-spin pair, with Steel in reserve to confuse the opposition with his "tricky" bowling.

Glad it was fun for you Andrew. Another 'bad' year was 1920, technically impossible to reach.

I did look at picking Len Hutton via Percy Fender (1921 to 1929) and Walter Robins (1929 to 1937), but Hutton's retirement year seemed such a dud at first glance, and the Illingworth/Allen alternative seemed significantly stronger. Maybe I should have looked harder.

^ That's what I liked about this draft Watson my man; so many paths, variables & opportunities to f--k yourself over. I'm sorry that you had such of a bad starting position. If enough people are interested I will gladly start a reverse variant of this draft once this draft is finished (modern day working backwards) & the vote has been decided.

Please like this post if you would like me to PM you about the reverse draft. Cheers.

Great variety in bowling, decent depth in batting and a very formidable batting lineup. Proud of what I managed given I was just going one player at a time than following any chains till the last round. :D
