Yasir Shah tests positive for banned substance

nzfan

Is cricket going the Olympics way or what? So many testing positive to banned substance or is ICC silly enough to include plethora of common drugs as banned substance? Either way if ICC picked up the banned substance list from Olympic committee that is so wrong. Cricket is different and there needs to be cricket specific list.

Steroids are generally considered bad in most sports, except in the joke American ones only they care about.

Ignorance level >9000

no "common drugs" are banned substances, and the few that are (eg. Terbutaline for asthma - still not "common" btw) have non-banned and more commonly-use alternatives. No one is going to get banned for using panadol or nurofen for a headache lmao.

Besides, if you're a professional sportsman you are already well aware that "banned substances" exist and you'd question anything weird that you'd take, unless you're an absolute moron. Which is probably where Warne went wrong. Either that or his god complex just led him to think he was untouchable.

Holy ****. 4 years is a long time.
Feels about right to send the message not to cheat, unless you want a serious chunk of your potential career stripped from you.

On the plus side Pakistan should be counting their blessings to have Amir returning, which many feel should never have happened, so kind of swings in roundabouts.

There is absolutely no regulation in Pakistan over this stuff. It's ridiculous as anyone can get any medication without a prescription.

There are even doctors practicing surgery without being qualified.

I find the whole thing more funny than sad but I have to admit it'd feel weird for him to be banned for 4 years while Amir got just 5 for what he did.

Exactly. People who have no experience with just how ****ed up certain things are in certain Asian countries should seriously stop making posts like this -

this so much.

****ing hate "HE A GOOD BOY!" "HE IS JUST A SIMPLY COUNTRY BOY, HE DIDN'T KNOW ANY BETTER!" mentality. the absolute pits.
I mean, I'm not saying idiots like Amir and Yasir should be treated any differently, but it smacks of ignorance and a lack of cultural awareness to suggest that these guys aren't more susceptible to dumb ****.

That's no excuse though. Will be unfair on other players playing with/against.

They should change the laws so that players from WI and SL are allowed to dope. Might even things up.

You would be surprised the amount OTC medicine is on that list & In the subcontinent prescription meds are very easy to get

Unless he tested for something that screams out performance enhancing ... the ICC should be smart about these things.

Won't be handing out sympathy points for not being smart enough to realize that match fixing is not the right thing to do.

Nope. Shouldn't even be considering factors like that. Can very easily be turned into a lie.
