International Vice-Captain
Bopara was the 11th man imo... but he went missing like he did throughout his England career.

Who am I kidding. I love Bopara. Would have him batting number 6 for the test team. Should be taking over from Cook as captain right about now.

Nuffers bump of a similar thread makes me think of this thread again. New attempt.....

Burns, Khawaja, Smith, Labuschagne, Head, Patterson, Paine, Pattinson, Cummins, Lyon, Hazlewood

Warner, Short, S Marsh, Handscomb, M Marsh, Wade, Carey, Starc, J Richardson, Zampa, Behrendorff

Finch, Philippe, Lynn, Stoinis, Turner, Maxwell, McDermott, Green, K Richardson, Tye, Stanlake

Probably missing a couple of really obvious names, but meh.

England Test team ...... Burns, Sibley, Denly, Root (capt), Stokes, Pope, Buttler (wk), Archer, Leach, Broad, Anderson.

There are some glaring weaknesses, in that we're relying on young promise, rather than experienced achievement, but that's the position the England team find themselves in.

As for the Tip N Run, or the Crash and Bash side; I have only a little interest in the former, and none in the latter, so can't comment sensibly.

In that case, this seems like the wrong thread to comment at all then.

Easy peasy now to create this for India. Play this team in a spin friendly/batting friendly pitch and play the sub if it is fast bowler friendly.

I find it hard to argue with these too much.

I'd definitely have Harris or Bancroft in for Burns but I know that'll go down like a lead balloon here.

Maxwell is much better in T20 than any other format - he's actually ranked #2 in the world in T20Is - so I'd lock him in there without worrying too much about who ended up at #6 in that ODI side. Maybe just swap him with Turner.

I think Dan Christian should make the T20 team in hindsight.
Yeah **** Stoinis and his T20I average of 15. And you're already sneaking Dan memes into the spots in that team that no-one could offer a good alternative for, so lets do it.

Oh, I also really hate Tye so I probably wouldn't pick him there either; I'd much sooner pick Abbott or Meredith or Stanlake or something.

The only Dan meme is the Spikey-inspired Nev as specialist 'keeper, no? And the selectors did do that tbf

O'Keefe is a bit of a Dan meme. Didn't he take 0/300 in the BBL two seasons ago?

Like it's hard to offer an alternative so whatever, but he's picked because Dan-meme I'm sure.

I literally couldn't think of another spinner. N00fers picking Chris Green is a fair call though.

Yeah Aussie white ball spinner stocks are probably the worst of the best 10/11 nations worldwide. Surprised Green hasn't gotten a crack at T20's yet, probably a case of the selectors not taking it that seriously.

Regarding Nevill, I'm actually surprised T20 franchises haven't tried to cash in more on full on specialist keepers, as in batting them at 8/9 and just expecting them to keep. Realistically unless you have a good attacking one there's a good chance they'll be superfluous with the bat and I think with the gloves they'll have more of an impact than they would in other forms of the game.
