This seems pretty interesting. But they haven't got any team names yet, no fixtures, and not even a list of players participating barring a few big names. And they want to kick off within 3-4 months. Pretty tight schedule. Hope they pull it off tho.

Great to see old bastards having a crack, better than getting fat, but would be better if they could use the concept to promote growth of the game. Like the Tendulkar/Warne think but playing against associates or in places like the US with a few locals in each team. If it's just cashing in on some gulf cash it's harder to get excited about.

Can't have actual fast bowlers bowling to the old guys, so have a fast bowler who runs in like one but bowls like a spinner. Makes sense. Should have signed Fizzy to deliver non-stop slower balls IMO.

So after some controversy over NOCs and non-retired players featuring, the league kicked off last night.

1st Match: Libra Legends v Gemini Arabians at Dubai (DSC), Jan 28, 2016 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Quite a handy thrashing dealt out by the Arabians, who seem a bit OP with a host of recently-retired cricketers - Sanga, Sehwag, Levi, Hodge, Murali, Mills, Naved ul Hasan...

The Libra Legends did feature Kallis, Lumb and Hogg fresh from the BBL, but that wasn't to be enough. ten Doeschate scored a fifty though which is nice to see.

The MCL website are putting up basic match reports for each game too, and have an active Instagram account along with most if not all the sides. No official youtube channel as far as I can tell, but there are clips from the game on there too. Plenty of little footage and snippets to follow if anyone is interested.
