Dire. What is he, 30?

Just ruins following the team
Yeah there's basically a cap on how good a Zimbabwean cricketer can be before they start getting offered a lot more than ZC will to play lower levels of cricket. I'm not sure if Williams has actually reached the cap and got other offers or just decided to RQ again but it's definitely frustrating; you almost have to hope players don't get too good to make sure they stay in the side.

Since the desicion to cut down the world cup to 10 teams. Im always happy when an associate beats a full member country, cause it makes the icc, look like the twits they are

I think this will will actually send Afghanistan up two spots in the ODI rankings to tenth, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

It's looking increasingly like we may have a Test team not qualify for the World Cup. The qualifying tournament is in Bangladesh and you'd have to say Afghanistan would be favourites to beat Zimbabwe there, particularly if Williams retires.

Yeah Afghanistan will favor the conditions but wondering that a qualifying tourney in BD when the WC suppose to happen in England does not make much of a sense. Ireland would have been a better choice for qualifying tourney.

Hate to say this, but what Zimbabwe needs are black players who are test class. White players do get easy offerings due to UK passports they hold, but not so much luck for black players. They have to do some thing outrageous as Olonga to get some recognition in UK. Few class black players - since they cannot leave the country - will be the way for Zimbos.

dunno what century you're in but black people can get uk passports as well...

They can get via a long tedious process. But most of the white population are already UK passport holders, or eligible for citizenship by descent.

Just rage-quitting ZC again apparently. The last time he did that he had a crack at being a professional hockey player in South Africa and that didn't work out for him. He's got a bigger profile cricket-wise now so he'll probably pop up somewhere else.
Got to think he would easily get a county spot if he wanted it.

So happy for Afghanistan but feel a little sad for Zimbabwe
Indeed, when one recalls how impressive ZIM were looking in the late 1990s when the won a series in a very strong Pakistan team and played so well in 1999 W-Cup, their collapse since 2003 is one of the continued sad stories of international cricket.

The biggest problem with Zimbawe remains the amount of players they keep going overseas. Add Taylor, Ballance, De Granhomme, Sean Ervine, Kevin Curran's sons who play for Surrey, Kyle Jarvis, Anthony Ireland to this team and its a pretty decent team.

You can add Hilton Cartwright and both Ryan Higginses to your list too. A team of Zimbabwean expats would give Zimbabwe a pasting.

Lots of players retire really early and do other things as well because there's no money in it. Taibu's nine years younger than Misbah but he retired three years ago, for example.
