Big Upsets

Zimbabwe's astounding win over Australia at the u19 cup prompted me to bring this thread up.

What have been the biggest or most memorable upsets in cricket that u have seen ?

My choices would be:
1) Ken v WI (96 wc)
2) ZIM v AUS (83 wc)
3) IND v WI (83 wc cup final)

I would have to say Kenya vs Sri Lanka at the 2003 World Cup because I actually watched that one from the first ball......nd it was a good game!

Australia beating Bangladesh in 2003 ;)
I would say it was a shock for some Australians.

Bangladesh lasted more than one day. :P

The greatest shock to me was that some people genuinely thought it would.
Believe it or not, someone had 16\1 on a one-day victory for Australia!!! A hell of a lot of people who knew much about Stephen Waugh would have made some dosh there, all right.
$16,000,000,000 on the game not being over in 1 day.
Nice tidy $1,000,000,000 to add to your earnings!
There was never a chance of a one-day Test and there never will be.

IMO the Ken-WI, Ken-SL, Ban-Pak games are all about equal. Zim-Aus in '83 deserves a mention certainly, but they did have our great coach in top form then.:D
Kenya reaching WC2003 semis has to be the biggest sporting miracle ever. But this excercise is about individual games.

Without forfeits, I very much doubt they'd have got there though.
Still very much deserved though. Weren't littered with star players yet represented how far you can go when the whole team works hard and works together- catches win matches etc etc:P

Durham beating Yorkshire in the Gillette Cup in about 1968.
Yorkshire had some of the biggest stars (and egos) of the day.

Also Ireland beating the West Indies from the same period. Although i think this had more to do with Irish hospitality than cricketing abilities.

Aus-Ind final 2003WC......upset in the sense that many were expecting a close fight.

Pak-Aus final 99WC....Ditto.

Aus-Srl final 96WC....Upsetting to Australians atleast:lol:

Pak-ban 99 WC

Zim's Test series win in Pak.

Pak's test victory over ind in Calcutta in 99.....after ind had pak on the mat at 26-6 in the first day:(

actually that game was lot better than vb series 2nd final.

i remember in wc final india was doing better than aus till the end only thing thy kept losing wickets and ran out of them and also the rain factor made game more intresting but in end it actually made things worse for indians.

till 38 over runs were equal only india had lost 8 wickets and was obvious was gonna lose

what part u cannot undertand.

The part where Australia scored 119 runs in the last 11 overs.

India scored at the same rate as Australia for 38 overs. Wahoo for them, they lost 9 wickets in the process and required 11.45 an over at the conclusion of the game which shows how they were never really in the game.
