Earlier this month, the unnamed girl reported that Shahadat Hossain, a bowler with the Bangladeshi national team, and his wife physically tortured her and left her on a street in the capital, Dhaka, Muntashirul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police told CNN Tuesday.

According to police, the girl had substantial injuries -- several parts of her body were dislocated, she had swollen eyes, and was bruised extensively. She is now being treated in hospital.

Police said Shahadat and his wife, Nittyo Shahadat, have fled their home in Dhaka, and that resources have been deployed to find and arrest them.

Just some time back, we had a similar case with Rubel Hossain. It then got dropped. What is it with the Bangladesh fast bowlers? Any comments, Energetic?

Shahadat is a disgrace. Never ever liked this guy not even as a human being. Something about him is just off. He should be jailed. What a moron.

Anyone got any idea what sort of sentence he might face if convicted?
He and his wife in lots of trouble. Human rights and NGOs are all over it. A stricter new rule got passed in the parliament against these sorts of acts in 2015. I will post it after verification. Other psychos out there should take a valuable lesson from the incident.

Pretty common in the Indian subcontinent, is it not?
In Sri Lanka it's illegal to employ anyone less than 14. Punishment will be 15 year jail sentence. And every child had to be sent to school, otherwise amounts to child abuse.

It may not be legal, but when has that ever stopped anyone?
