Time to select the keeper. Unfortunately my criteria (100 dismissals as a keeper) meant that one likely option missed out. If you want to vote for him just click Other. If Other was to win, then I'll do a runoff with options, but please if you want to vote for Other state who he is in the thread.

IA Healy (Aus) 1990-1999 102 193 354 327 27
DJ Richardson (SA) 1992-1998 42 77 152 150 2
RC Russell (Eng) 1990-1998 47 83 144 136 8
AJ Stewart (Eng) 1991-1999 42 73 142 134 8
AC Parore (NZ) 1990-1999 47 84 132 128 4

Can you find any stats on byes conceded? I think at some stage Parore had the record for the most runs conceded by a team over quite a few matches (1,000+) without conceding a bye. He was probably the tidiest keeper, Healy the most acclaimed (did a good job keeping to Warne), and Stewart the best batsman of those listed. I think had the former England coach had better bowlers (except Streak) to keep to, he would've had more dismissals - bowlers have to create the chances for keepers to snare.

In an ATG XI you dont need a batting wicketkeeper. When you have the middle order of Lara, Sachin, Waugh - you just need a good gloveman to do the job so it has to be Ian Healy for the 90s.

Healy was a reasonable batsman, and good enough to score more than 200 runs without being dismissed by Ambrose, Walsh, Bishop, and Benjamin during the Brisbane Test of 1996.

Incidently, Australia won on the 5th Day by dismissing the West Indies with about 10 overs to spare. Sherwin Campbell's valiant century wasn't enough.

Is this team going to have an allrounder at 6, then the keeper at 7? Or random options at 6. I think Brian McMillan was the best allrounder of the 90s, but he wasn't a no6. I'd happily pick Andy Flower as a specialist bat at 6, but he is not nominated as a batsman.

Those are for spots 3-5. There will be a last poll that will have bowlers, batsmen and all rounders and you can pick whoever you wish depending on how you want the team to be set up. Flower should be in there.

what was his average at the end of 1999? must have been over 100

edit - jsut checked and he averaged 60 at the end of '99, after about 5 matches

Funnily enough he got his average up to 60 again after 46 matches. What a beast

if we're going for keeping skills alone here then russell is absolute light years ahead of the rest.

he's in the running for the greatest gloveman of all time, the rest aren't.

Really? I always thought his keeping was a bit overrated. When England played NZ he never looked any better than Smith or Parore. According to this cricketweb post/fact (probably not true as on CW8-)) Parore went more than 2,000 runs without conceding a bye, which was well ahead of the next best. McCullum was probably the 2nd best pure gloveman of the 2000s behind Prasanna Jayawardene, but Parore was probably a better keeper than him. As good as Watling is (best keeper-batsman at the mo), as a keeper he is only 4th best behind Parore, Smith and McCullum.

It's pretty easy to forget just how good Healy was, simply because his replacement was Adam Gilchrist.

Healy was voted "keeper of the 20th century" and yet fifteen years later many people almost forget him because his replacement changed the game. I think without Gilchrist, we would be remembering Healy as being one of the greatest, if not the greatest wicket keepers of all time.

Healy also loses out because everybody hates him for his ****ing **** commentary.

Not even the best cricketer in his family, either (will probably be third if Starc/Alyssa remain together)
