The last one should be a fast bowler and the next best fast bowler after Imran, Wasim and Waqar was either Fazal, Akhtar or Asif. Personally think Asif is the best out of the 3 and therefore should be in the team but I voted Akhtar since Asif's name isn't in the poll. Although the guy is an arsehole.

don't quite get all the shakib love in an ATG XI. Hasn't done enough to merit a place in an ATXI yet. I mean where's the match winning performances? (I don't follow banger tests so would be happy to get some info on that)

Went for Mankad

Don't see what batting position has to do with batting average.
It is harder batting with the tail, which is what Shakib does all the time.

Went for Mankad
During the time he's been playing, Bangladesh has won 6 tests, out of the 41 he's played.

In the first, he scored two fifties and took 4 wickets, top scoring in the first innings. In the second, despite mediocre batting, he took 5 wickets. In the third, he took 8 wickets and scored 96 not out to win the run chase, taking man of the match. In the fourth, he was again mediocre with the bat, but took 7 wickets. In the 5th, he scored a century, along with two 5 wicket hauls, man of the match of course, first time anyone's scored 100 runs and 10 wickets since Imran in the 80's. In the 6th, he scored a 50 and took a wicket. I'd say he's had a few match winning performances.

It's gotta be Vinoo
Very confusing really. The romantic wants to go for one of Gupte and Bedi. The pragmatic wants to go for either Mankad or a batsman.
Shakib getting so many votes above Vinoo is a disgrace. Vinoo averaged 40 as an opening batsman.
Shakib winning this, seriously?? Any specialist bat would be better than him playing. Farce.
My hand slipped. Meant to vote for Kapil. Please take cognizance of this.

It really isn't. The second part is ok, but I hardly see how batting with the tail is harder than batting up the order.

Especially when he's saying that batting lower down the order affects your average negatively. Which is totally false.

batting with the tail is a skill though and not everybody does it well to the same degree

I agree but he was implying his average of 40 is somehow more impressive because he bats lower down the order. That makes no sense to me

Voted for Shakib because I want at least one player from each of the sub-continental sides. Just a quirk of mine's. I do think any one of Kapil, Mankad, Younis, or Chandrasekar/Bedi/Qadir are more deserving players.

Definitely looking at a spin bowling allrounder for this, though Mathews or a specialist batsman would make the batting depth hilarious.
