They should make a 9 team test world cup

A timeless Test would probably result in most teams having to play two specialist spinners. So as someone who follows NZ and Australia, I think this idea is terrible.
i think you overestimate how much longer it would take than a normal test in this day and age. it would probably go 5 days like usual but just in case there was rain delays it might go 6

warner and company aren't suddenly going to drop their strikerates to 30 just because the chance for draw has been removed. It's in a lot of players blood to bat fast now.

Isn't that the same as following England and Scotland ie unthinkable?

maybe he's got a parent from each country. I think the rivalry between kiwis and aussies is very friendly. When I was a kid I got so sick of Australia winning I wanted us to lose. wonder how many fans on this board felt the same during Ponting's reign of doom

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I'd be intrigued to see it, just as a one off maybe. If England can fit 120009 teams in 3 forms of cricket over a summer no reason why we couldn't have a 9 team Test only league championship run. Would be interesting to stagger starting times too so you can choose to flick over to another Test during those pesky lunch and tea breaks

Yes two spinners and probably six legitimate bowling options. Otherwise your bowlers will become hobbled. Players like Ali will be high demand.

For New Zealand would pick this team

Latham
Brendon
Kane
Taylor
Anderson 6
Watling
Astle 5
Craig 4
Wagner 3 as a workhorse
Southee 1
Boult 2

I think in the modern age we'd be getting a 7 day match worst case scenario. Besides in this hypothetical it'd only be for the knockout games
How would you schedule timeless games? Would stats for those games be counted towards teams/individuals?

And what kind of audience numbers do you expect for two months of test cricket?

Test WC. England, Aus, and India + one qualifier.

Round robin of 3 match series.
And those team selections are based on what? Wealth? Levels of corruption?

The second, fifth and sixth ranked teams. World Cup.
