I mean we don't say Messi is a better football than Ronaldo. Or that Healy is a better glove than Kamran Akmal. Or that ***** is a better keyboard than Blocky.

You don't say glover or keyboarder either.

Batsman/Batswoman is just fine thank you. And bowler.
Which is my point. Glovesman is fine. "glove" is not. So why do people say X is a better "bat" than Y. Either say batsman or even batter if you want to. What is this "bat" nonsense?

Batter is allowed coz bowlers are called bowlers and not ballsmen. Although that'd be fun.

Nah, bat is fine. It's a phrase. It is in the cricket dictionaries as well, so it is not like it has just started being used. I posted a pic of the same a few months back. There are few people who don't like the term bat though. I like it. He is a fine bat. It really means he is a fine batsman.

Burger shop near me has a fish and chip combo called "salt 'n' battery".
