DoG's Test Innings and Bowling Performances. Updates thread.

Days of Grace

International Captain
From the first test at the Basin:

TWM Latham 264* 15.23
BKG Mendis 141* 14.94
AD Mathews 120* 14.07

TG Southee 6/68 14.53

Tim Southee still doesn't have a gold performance. 7/64 vs. India at Bengaluru in 2012 (14.84) remains his best.

Best test match performances by an Indian batsman in Australia

29.98 R Dravid 233 (19.67) & 72* (10.31) at Adelaide 2003
27.32 VS Hazare 116 (12.20) & 145 (15.11) at Adelaide 1948
26.14 CA Pujara 123 (17.78) & 71 (8.37) at Adelaide 2018
24.14 V Kohli 115 (10.42) & 141 (13.72) at Adelaide 2014
23.35 V Sehwag 63 (6.69) & 151 (16.66) at Adelaide 2008
20.90 V Kohli 169 (14.89) & 54 (6.01) at Melbourne 2014
Pains me to say it but Kohli's knocks there are probably overrated, absolute roads those pitches. Not surprising that one was a draw and the other was only a result because Aus declared twice.

Second one at Adelaide was a truly great knock. The rest were merely standard good test hundreds.

Will be interesting to know where Kohli's Perth hundred ranks.

Edit: may be a look at innings rather than match performance will be interesting to check.

It's probably gonna rate higher than Lara's.

SA had four bowlers this innings with averages under 25

And the 5th being the spinner with an average less than 30.

Phenomenal innings. Never been so gutted about missing watching a day's play.

Wow, i just checked the score. I can't believe Sri Lanka won, I'd written them off when they had lost 4/100 odd. Must have been an incredible innings.

I went onto CW today just for this thread. I am curious to see how Philander gets counted. Mister says 4 bowlers under 25, but Vernon was injured which helped SL heaps.

True, but he did bowl in the innings. Possibly even bowled to Perera on day 3. Either way I'm not sure exactly how it works
