He was a man quick to anger, quick to forgive. He was plain-speaking with few inhibitions, sometimes apt to be brusque in the attempt to conceal his innate shyness.
A wonderful couple of lines by Arlott that underscores one of cricket's greatest characters. Thanks Fred.
