bit annoyed Pontings 2 double centuries in two matches aren't there though.

Don't see how Waugh's innings v England at the SCG 2002-3 is so high. It wouldn't make HIS top 5 innings IMO let alone the top 5 ever by an aussie (as some of the panal must have voted).

His two 100s at Old Trafford in 1997 were made against a stronger attack on a pretty awful batting surface. Also the OT innings were made when the series was still on the line and other aussie batsmen had failed...unlike the SCG test which was a 4-0 massacre going into the match.

And how the hell is Thommo's 21 at the MCG in there.

Still these type of lists usually throw up a few strange 'uns. All subjective stuff I suppose.

the reason behind these lists is usually because they had nothing else to put in, and its just filler.

The list is just to subjective.

it's not like a top 20 batsmen or top 20 bowler list, where most people would have the same 10-15 names pop up constantly on every list.

quite a pointless project.

One innings that didn't make the list was the hundred made by Hayden in Sharjah against pakistan in the 50 degree heat. That was the same test that no one else made 50 and Pakistan were bowled out for I think 50 and 54. I watched that the condtions were severe.

Mate, they are the greatest AUSTRALIAN innings of all time.....I do believe some of he judeges are old enough to have seen most of those innings!

Yeah, I know. I just mean that I've seen and remember more NZ innings than any other. If it were the top NZ innings I wouldn't nominate any before say, 1985 as I haven't seen any further back than that.

What because it isn't a batsman and because it isn't a 100 it shouldn't make the list? Considering Thommo had to be told which end of the bat to hold at the end of each over and he almost got Australia through with Border it was a great innings.
