222* not out for Hales.

Not the worst for us at the end of the day after being 55-4. Top century in the situation from Petersen on his CC debut for us.

Meanwhile Liam Livingstone who we never give any chances in the first team to scored 350 off 138 balls in a 45 over club match :O

Come on Vince. Time to step up. Well done to Hales for batting rather than talking. And shame about the 8 wickets on the first day for Ryder and Stevens.

Yes to all of that. Only 3 innings so far but we need Vince to start scoring, was given a good platform as well today.

especially when you take into account that at least 350ish of those wickets were taken while throwing the ball, compared to his present less chuck-y action.

Nature of SL pitches really work in his favour -- high WPM/low average because he's good enough to be the lead spinner in a domestic side
Mmh I was thinking that was the case, although more along the lines of some of the FC teams being not very good in tandem with pitches that can crumble like an obese man sitting on a bag of chips.

I like Hales and it is premature to write him of an ODI player , but he did get the full Indian tour and some other matches and of course the Bangla knock out and didn't set the world on fire. Obviously its early days, but other players have came in for their countries and nailed their spot very quickly, Taylor for example against Sri Lanka. International cricket can be cruel and irrational, but sometimes the players and Hales in this scenario have to take some blame for their current predicaments.

Shame we couldn't get the 3rd batting point, managed to lose our last 4 wickets for 1 run. Have Derbyshire in a bit of trouble at 32/3 though. Siddle already has a couple.

Is this right? Senanayake has 376 FC wickets in just 73 games? Averages 5 wickets a game, how does he not play Tests for Sri Lanka?
SL domestic cricket is known for its dustbowls and general poor standard, many domestic spinners doing the rounds have really good records

Daniel Lawrence batting no 4 for Essex spent the off-season playing for my club, was absolutely phenomenal how much better he was than the rest of us, ****y bastard though

Great to see Alex Davies in the runs - won't be seeing very much of Buttler so important he cements his place. By all accounts had a decent winter and potentially a match winning knock today.

Yorkshire winning the championship is gonna be a cakewalk if these first 1 and 3/4 games are anything to go by. Even without a load of their players away they are on top of Notts.

Possibly first wins tomorrow for both newly promoted clubs, Hampshire and Worcestershire. Would be good for the first division if that was to happen.

Would be huge if we could win that game without Bird and with Vince not making a contribution.

Jarvis finally looking like a bowler. 5-11 off seven overs - perhaps the last wicket stand he was in yesterday helped his confidence.

Wow, Jarvis went bang. 3 lbws and 1 caught behind, so they don't look like junk wickets either.

Sussex on the brink of a surprisingly easy win against Worcs - and equally surprising to see that Shahzad's 5-45 is the best of his career to date. Just three five-fors in 82 previous matches for a one-time England bowler.

Well I could take today as evidence of our limited bowling attack or the pitch may have just got easier as the game has gone on.
