There are so many reasons to hate Faulkner. Australian, plays for Lancashire, 'one day specialist', looks and behaves like a footballer. Awful.

Sounds like Topley to Hampshire is done. You'd think he'd wait till the end of the season to at least see in what division Hampshire end up in. Still it sounds like he's trying to get away for Essex asap.

Not sure I like the way that the County scene is going, with cash-rich 'big' clubs ram-raiding smaller ones for their best players. Only going to stretch the gap between these teams and make the domestic scene a little predictable.

If I was still in Ringwood, I'd be seriously thinking about burning down Hampshire's ground. ****s. There'll be more Essex players playing for Hampshire than Essex at this rate.

The sad thing is that the more players leave these smaller counties, the less likely it is that they can keep training good young players. There's a pretty good team of ex-Essex players plying their trade for other counties these days. Infuriating to see another one leave.

It's no surprise that everyone is leaving. Grayson has stayed coach (as has Foster as captain) well beyond he could have had any expectation of given the results, and the transfer policy of the club has been terrible.

I agree there is an issue with second division clubs becoming 'feeder clubs' but Essex themselves seemed to have created plenty of their own problems.

This has been going on for years with us. Whenever someone starts to look good, Nottinghamshire sign them up for their 3rd XI. Just stupid because half the time they don't even play, Smith even came back on loan as he wasn't playing at all.
