I will be very surprised if at least some sort of private offer or show of interest had not been made before Fletcher was appointed... Think both Fleming and maybe even Dan Vettori would be in the running. You cannot overstate how important the "they get along well with the current captain" factor is in these sort of appointments within Indian cricket.

McClenenghan has bowled really well in the IPL whenever I have seen him. Hardly bowls bad bowls.

Harbhajan was getting so much turn. You just have to play out a bowler who is having that much turn for a few balls at least.
