Nearly all the players I'd actually pick in a proper World XI would be 30+ really. Only Warner would be a cert from the other age groups.

Yeah, I agree. So in other words, given that Warner would come in for Vijay, no Indian players are currently good enough to get in a world XI.

The oldies, subject to fitness obviously, would dick everyone. Not sold on AB keeping though, probably.

Brathwaite definitely deserves to be in the U25 team. Making hundreds against NZ and South Africa whilst still 22 is a serious achievement.

Reckon Matthews deserves a place in the team ahead of Younis, in spite of his mediocre efforts in NZ recently.

Yeah there are a few I'd consider from the other groups -- Mathews, Smith, Philander, Kohli maybe even Watling -- but Warner's the only one who'd be a cert.

I'd definitely pick Mathews if he was a more effective bowler at Test level but as it is I could go either way on him or a few other batsmen for that spot.

Has AB made his mind up on the keeping thing yet? Because if he's not keeping for the next five minutes then Watling gets the gig.

Who would win?

Australia under 26s
1 Jake Weatherald
2 Matt Renshaw
3 Kurtis Patterson
4 Marnus Labuschagne
5 Travis Head
6 Will Pucovski
7 Josh Inglis+
8 Ashton Agar
9 Pat Cummins c
10 Jhye Richardson
11 Riley Meredith

Australia 26-29
1 Cameron Bancroft
2 Marcus Harris
3 Joe Burns
4 Peter Handscomb
5 Mitchell Marsh c
6 Marcus Stoinis
7 Alex Carey+
8 Mitchell Starc
9 Chris Tremain
10 Adam Zampa
11 Josh Hazlewood

Australia 30+
1 Usman Khawaja
2 Alex Doolan
3 Callum Ferguson
4 Shaun Marsh
5 Glenn Maxwell
6 Matthew Wade
7 Tim Paine+ c
8 Nathan Coulter-Nile
9 Peter Siddle
10 Nathan Lyon
11 Jackson Bird

26-29 is without a spinner. If we insist on a spinner the only option I can think of is D'arcy Short.

Edit - Zampa in thanks Pews. Dropped Patto just because Tremain is currently more realistic.

Over 30s wins mostly because Lyon is a class above. The middle aged have the best bowlers and the young team has a pretty balanced side. The oldies probably have the worst pace attack (though still international quality) and a serviceable batting lineup.
