Best Australian XI of last 15 years

Pratters

Cricket, Lovely Cricket
The last 15 years have seen loads of talented Australians. Players like Stuart Law have managed to play just 1 test. There have been 3 major captains in Border, Taylor and Waugh.

It would be interesting to see who would make the Australian Test XI of the last 15 years post ashes 1989 till India's tour of Australia 2004.

I will put in my choice later as a lot of names are going through my mind right now!

I am surprised to see people picking Langer/Slater over Mark Waugh. IMO Mark Waugh is anyday better than most of these Aussie batsmen.

And how many times did Mark Waugh open in a Test match?

Once.

So you can hardly say that he's been one of the best 2 openers of the past 15 years, can you!

But Slater Langer are openers , Waugh is a middle order player & dosent quite rate up with Boon , his brother , Ponting & Border , despite being a wonderful player.

You're talking to one of Slater's biggest fans here , but I just like to take into account the relative strength of the attacks those two have made the bulk of their runs against ;) .

ps- i am a little suprised that no one else has opened with Boon, as it allows an extra middle order batsman to be played (ie mark waugh)

DISCLAIMER: This side is my best XI - it is not necessary the XI best players in the past 15 years, just the XI I believe would have done the best....

Waugh S*
Border
Gilchrist+
Warne
McDermott
Fleming
McGrath

Two fast bowlers, a swing bowler, a leg-spinner, and for that pesky partnership breaker - a medium-pacer, an off-spinner and a left-arm spinner :D
