Lee Retires

Debris

International 12th Man
He was definitely better in ODIs, but you still fancied to get a fair few runs from his bowling imo.
He was actually surprisingly economical in ODIs, better than Steyn for instance. And his strike rate was ridiculously good.

I used to enjoy watching Lee bowl at full tilt he was veery captains dream an out and out pace sensation, having read Gilly's book he also comes over as a very genuine guy.

Bloke was box office. There were more effective bowlers, but few who'd make for more entertaining passages of play when bowling.

Arguably the best seamer in the world for a brief 18 month period after McGrath retired too.

Testament to his likeability that he sent down more beamers than any other bowler ever (fact) and we all still think he's a good bloke.
You wouldn't have said so at the time because he was new, but in hindsight that was Steyn. Announced himself on the world by taking shedloads.

The normal awards that everyone else has
Lee was a great limited overs bowler. A true ATG in ODIs.

As a test bowler he was good, had a period of greatness, and for the most part fulfilled a role of being able to just bowl ****ing quick and attempt to intimidate while Warne, McGrath and Gillespie worked around him. Part of one of the best bowling combos ever.

The fact that his name sound's like a tacky 1970s brand of menswear always coloured my view of him
