Player Ratings Project

OK a few years ago I remember a player ratings project being run by some poster which I found the concept interesting but failed perhaps because around the time that was being run there were a lot of low profile Test series.

With 2 series having finished in the last 24 hours and another finishing in a few days I feel it might be interesting to reboot this. It will probably fail after a few months, but meh

Nice project. Mind telling us wtf it is?

Whoops.

Basically after a Test series has finished whoever is keen posts their ratings out of 10 after said series. I then average the scores given out after enough time has elapsed since I put it up/the last rating was given and therefore award CW's POTS/COTS.

I probably won't do this for every series though as I suspect some won't have enough interest.

Giving Sangakkara 7 is pretty generous imo. He played an ATG knock, but the other 3 innings he couldn't even get a start and absorb a bit of early pressure from Boult. Two quick wickets at the top put the middle and lower order under immense pressure.

Agree, I almost gave him a five on the basis that he performed under his career average and massively underperformed compared to his recent form. McCullum gets an extra point from me due to how he captained the side, alongside his innings in the first game being the reason we won the match.

I'd agree, but Shami did take the wickets they couldn't despite bowling his fair share of tripe so he gets saved here. Ashwin's batting barring the 1st innings here and perhaps saving the Melbourne Test wasn't much to write home about either.

tbf I had no idea his bowling figures ended up looking that respectable. Totally flatters him though.

These ratings are interesting, in that, for example, Australia's number 5 position for the series = 12/10. I know it's harsh but it seems off if you can be at more than the max.
