Sanga to retire from all forms of cricket????????

Yea I just panicked but looks like he's going to retire after the WC.. but this means the 2 tests in NZ next month will be his last tests.. at least enough time to be fastest to 12000 runs I guess. But so much for that 60 retiring average..

:(

Getting out before the hapless SL outfit next tour Australia for a test series....

Nah, he's a gun. Will be missed massively. Wonderful player.

Not too surprising I guess after he waved his bat in that Colombo test. If he'd had his way, he'd have gone for a farewell at home, but they don't have a home test for ages now. Maybe the SLCB can call West Indies for two tests just before the NZ series and he'll retire there.

Sadly I don't think we get another crack at youse for ages now, he'd have to do a Misbah to make it that long.

Will leave a massive hole that we are no closer to filling now than we were 2 years ago, has to go sometime though, hope he makes the right call by him and he stands by it

After all the issues Sanga has had with the SLCB, I think it's impressive he has stayed on this long.

One final crack at the WC, then retirement makes sense.

He's just rattling his sabre while he's in a good bargaining position - he'll be around for a while yet

I'd love to see Arj Barker stay on for tests, but it's entirely a personal call. God he's a magnificent player though. I love him. He'll be sorely, sorely missed.

You tell him Aravinda...
The Island

Asking him to go for Sachin's run record is a bit much though.. very unlikely to happen with the # of tests SL plays a year - more likely that he gets to #2 and closer to a 60 avg and calls it a day..
