Predict your countries XI in five years time (i.e World Cup 2019)

Gotcha! Dunno. Reckon by then Marsh will be a legit frontline bowler and Maxwell's LO spin is pretty effective most of the time tbh.

Hopefully by then Cummins, Starc and Hazelwood/Pattinson will be a real force.

Doran
Mitchell Marsh
Whiteman+
Pattinson
Cummins
Sayers
Hazlewood

Could see us just avoiding spinners altogether outside of spin friendly conditions. Behrendorff could also be in there over one of the pacers. Hughes will either have cemented his spot in the side or be on his last life after a failed Maddinson, Silk etc run.

Reckon Maxwell will definitely be there for Aus if we're naming ODI teams.

Heh, Weerasundara. Not sure the club trundlers in Bolton or Wellington would agree with this. The NZ pitch science will have fully eliminated all lateral movement and variable bounce by 2019 though. He's trusting the tech.

This thread's confusing because some are sticking to the CW "Tests unless stated otherwise" rule while others are assuming the mere mention of the World Cup in the title implies ODIs.

The first post outlines two team selections. That should have set a trend.

ODI's:

Warner
Finch (muh intent)
Smith*
Lynn (better attacking techinque then his contemporaries)
Doran+ (he's kept in the past, can see the Aussie selectors Dravid-ing him to fit more all-rounders)
M Marsh
Maxwell
Faulkner
Starc
Cummins
Sandhu (variety, think he's a bit more suited to the shorter formats then say Hazlewood or Pattinson)

Muirhead to come in on turning tracks (inconsistent but probably better skilled then other spinners, other option is to find a nude nuts defensive spinner as we all love)
Hazlewood/Richardson
Khawaja (kills it domestically, think he might just be a better limited overs player than Test one)
Whiteman
