From ball boy to whipping boy

I don't know if anyone's watching this, or if anyone cares, but I'm smarting vicariously at the injustice of it all:

That kid was treated shabbily. Russell may project and gesticulate all he likes, but the fact is that his was a poor effort. The ball was rope-bound in any event.

If the twitterati are to be believed, the boy has just been ejected from the ground; certainly, that looked the likely outcome when a group of officious-looking jackets began assembling at the scene. The cameras bravely panned away, however, so I can't be sure.

Andre Russell should be ashamed of himself. I should say that of the authorities, too, but I rather doubt they are capable of shame. And I wince to think how the scapegoat's next day at school will go.

And all this after Ravi Rampaul decapitated one of his peers during the second ODI. These kids need a union.

Since when, by the way, do four runs not accrue when a spectator fields the ball inside the boundary? I've been out of the loop too long.

What did Russell do besides stick out his hands and be all wtf for a second or two? Genuine question, haven't watched proper footage of the incident.

Last I saw, he was being ushered towards the playing area's nearest exit. Two suggestive tweets:

Russell's WTFing went on for well over "a second or two." His conduct encouraged his team-mates to follow suit, resulting in an extended hold-up in play while the umpires came to their curious determination.

That Russell had no cause to WTF at all may be seen from the original vine I posted, and from this image:
