For each pair pick one from either column A or B to make, in your opinion, the best Test XI. Once selected you can rearrange the batting order.

Apologies for formatting errors, spelling mistakes, ill balanced lists and lack of imagination as I am on my phone and in the pub.

Column A. Column B
1. Mark Taylor - Alistair Cook
2. Rameez Raja - Phil Hughes
3. AB De Villiers - Surav Ganguly
4. Martin Crowe - David Gower
5. Chanderpaul - Dravid
6. Andy Flower - Alec Stewart
7. Chris Cairns - Hansie Cronje
8. Saeed Ajmal - Heath Streak
9. Herath - Flintoff
10. Philander - Roach
11. Harmison - Merv Hughes

****. On review there are too few bowling options. If someone wants to add a 12th option then I am ok with that. Based on the above for me
1. Alistair Cook
2. Hughes
3. Surav Ganguly
4. David Gower
5. Chanderpaul
6. Stewart
7. Hansie Cronje
8. Heath Streak
9. Philander
10. Herath
11. Harmison

I would also add that I am not sober at the time of posting.

I don't think there should be criticism of selections in this thread but Cairns bowling ahead of Flintoff?

pretty equal as bowlers IMO.
Bull****. That is sitting on the fence. They are not equal. That is too convenient. One is better than the other. I believe Flintoff was clearly the better but that is my opinion only. Pick one :)

Don't think you have to decide one was better to sort out bowling order. More a case of thinking who is going to get more use out of a new or older ball, isn't it?

Not really. It is about who you would rather have the newer ball. You can juggle your bowling attack to give anyone the older ball whenever you want to give it to them.

Feel dirty picking Ajmal but unless I did I was going to have 5 quicks and no spinner (given that Freddie has to play ahead of Herath).

Edit: same team as PEWS. Miles away from Goughy's.
