Ball-tampering: should it be authorised?

You realize that the "ball guy" will have sharpened nails if this kind of law went through? With enough effort you can get some seriously sharp nails.

The ball will get old and worn eventually. Tampering just accelerates this.
A clean bowling action will not degenerate into a chuck eventually.
You've obviously never watched Dale Steyn's effort ball after a long hot day in the sun.
