Superlatives fail one. One of fred's best and that's high praise indeed.

The only omission I can think of, and I'm sure I haven't imagined it, is Walter's return, deep into middle age, to the first class game after several years away. I'm sure I recall a very poignant article written about the great man's hollow return. Very much "lion in winter" stuff.
