“James Franklin delivered the x-factor last season and I am very disappointed not to have him back. I do however believe that we have a squad capable of giving any team a hard time,” said Harper.

Please let the thread know if there's any hint of that $35 outsider Jason Holder being bumped right up the order, the way Otago used him.

Is Saeed Ajmal available for the entire tournament? If so, can't believe Antigua are last in the betting. Ben Dunk is class and I think Dussey is perfectly suited to these conditions too.

Yep, Ajmal's available throughout -

McClenaghan will replace Ajmal at Worcestershire for a six-week period in July and August.
Four imports allowed per XI as well, so there's no problems there. PEWS tells us Laughlin's seen as a bit try-hard in Australia, but I think he might go really well against domestic Windies players tbh. NZ domestic players often had no idea.

Can't get rid of Danny Morrison and now he has added "struth/strewth" to his vocabulary.

Haha, stupid Tridents. You at least batted Malik at 3. You'll come around to my idea of a Holder promotion next match.

Interesting stuff so far. I wish they were playing at a better venue than Grenada but the pitches have been okish so far and there has been some decent cricket. Random thoughts:

- Chris Gayle has to be the best T20 batsman, at least domestically. What an outrageous record, 7 hundreds more than anyone else and he averages over 42. He looked back to his best today and slightly more pain free which is good to see.

- Really enjoyed watching Cotterell and Cummins with the new ball for Antigua. Seriously tasty stuff. Cummins hurried all the batsman and fizzed it by their noses whilst Cotterell got the new ball to swing into the right handers. If he continues to do that he will be deadly as he bowls at 85-92mph. Liking his progress.

- Sunil Narine's spell of 0/3 was absolutely outrageous. Must have been 2 overs worth of playing and missing. As Bish said on commentary, West Indies are very well set in terms of bowling talent for the next 5/6 years at least, we've just got to develop some batsmen,.

- Henry Davids is class, I love watching him bat. One shot over cover was just immense.

with roach, holder, cummins and narine WI will have a very good bowling attack plus you've still got taylor, cotterrell seems to be coming on, gabriel, beaton and some youngsters in ray jordan, azzari joseph and keon harding. WI's pace attack looks like it will be strong for a good number of years. the batting rests on the 3 B's bravo, blackwwod and brathwaite.

There is no question that he is the best when in form, until yesterday he had been going through a lean patch, good to see him back on song as he is wonderful to watch no matter who you support.

Is there a rule in this tournament (like in IPL), that only 4 overseas players can play in the Playing XI?

T&T minister scolds Bravo for slamming name change | Cricketnmore

Port-of-Spain, July 16 (IANS/CMC) Trinidad and Tobago Sports Minister Anil Roberts has scolded Red Steel captain Dwayne Bravo for protesting a decision to change the name of the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel in the Limacol Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Following their opening victory over Barbados Tridents Zouks, Bravo criticised the decision to drop the words Trinidad and Tobago from the franchise which will now be known as Red Steel, reports CMC.

In a letter to the Red Steel manager Colin Borde, which was copied to CPL CEO Damien O'Donohoe and T&T Cricket Board president Azim Bassarath, Roberts called Bravo's outburst "disrespectful and improper".

"As an employee in a privately run tournament, it is improper and completely disrespectful for him to publicly challenge the rules and regulations regarding the use of a country's name and also publicly attempt to belittle the valid concerns and legal responsibilities of an elected representative of that nation's government," the Trinidad and Tobago sports minister wrote.

"Mr. Bravo's outburst suggests that either he is publically going against the mandates of his employer or the CPL is backtracking on its earlier agreement to respect the regulations surrounding the use of the name T&T."

Bravo referred to the decision makers of the name change as a "bunch of jokers" and told journalists in St. George's that he was prepared to deal with the consequences if his statements got him into trouble.

In his letter, Roberts said the onus was on CPL to inform Bravo of the name change.

"Based on what I have read in the press, it seems that Mr. Bravo only was informed that the name T&T could not be used just before the start of the Red Steel's first match," said Roberts.

"It was expected that you would have informed Mr. Bravo at his signing with the team of the mandated alteration to the team's name and advise him of all the necessary protocols involved in the use of the name of a sovereign nation."

CPL is yet to issue an official statement on the issue.
