DRAFT WINNERS - CricketWeb Honour Board

And here we get into the reasons behind peoples votes.
Yeah exactly. Too much gaming.

At the end of the day I rarely partake in drafts on here anymore for a number of different reasons so my opinion can be taken with a pinch of salt, but I don't think people should be playing to win the popular vote as such.

Agree with this. It feels like results of voting are generally skewed towards whoever gets the most impressive looking 3 quicks plus two openers who don't look ****. I think excellent middle orders are overlooked, and I feel like spinners are overlooked also. Overemphasis is placed on having a 5th bowler too.

Who won the mystery drafts? We even had simmage in those days. Good times.
Whether or not the Draft Winners deserve to be the winners or not might be beside the point. People seem to enjoy looking back and reminiscing about old Drafts.

Consequently, it might be nice if the results were in one thread, in one place, as a memory jogger.

Haha yeah, maybe I should.

I'm probably due a new sheep draft one of these days. Kind of not that excited about cricket at the moment, feels like ages since there has been a match that I've been slightly interested in.

For once Monk I disagree, all of the great teams have somewhat of a template in common. Great opening combination, Elite ATG No. 3(/4) and at least two ATG bowlers. The rest of the middle orders were good but hardly word beating, so I imagine people take their ques from those teams. Some of the teams with amazing middle orders, didn't always do that great because they often lacked the (fast) bowling to back them up.

Windies mid '80s
Greenidge, Haynes, Richards, Marshall, Holding, Garner
Aussies '2000's
Hayden, Langer, Ponting, Warne, McGrath
Invincibles
Morris, Barnes, Bradman, Lindwall, Miller

I mean it wasn't a difficult choice to go back to the scorecard draft considering the smashing success of the taboo draft
