Onions has been dreadful, probably ended his test chances for early summer anyway.

Guess the question is with Stokes probably out who comes in to join Anderson and Broad?

Finn is getting wickets so will probably get selected though i'd prefer to leave him with Middlesex for longer. Jordan has to come into the reckoning as he can also bat a bit. Just hope we don't go with Bresnan again.

Can see why Gale dropped himself for Root last week. Scratchy is a compliment to this effort.

Sam Hain batting at the moment for the Bears. He was one of the guys who it was reported picked England over Aus last summer.

They'll pick Finn with Jordan in the squad, I think. Just to give the vague impression of change without doing much.

I think that will be the way they go, thing is with Stokes out they will need another man unless they pick 8 bats with keeper and spinner being Prior and Ali for example.

I was about to post somemthing along the lines of 'about time KW stood up and got some runs', turns out he's got two fifties so far without me noticing at all, which I suppose is to his credit.
Well this was the second of said fifties and the first came in the completely inconsequential second innings at Taunton after he got a duck in the first.

Time for Chris Wright, IMHO. Actually wouldn't be shocked if Mills made the squad. Good thing about the Sunday starts is they can pick a few bowlers, and they can spend some time with the squad then play for their counties.

If you are gong to pick Wright, you might as well pick Finn. Very similar bowlers (in that they go for runs and take wickets), just Finn proven wicket taker at Test level and is younger and taller.

Not long back from Canterbury. Very slow morning with only about 20 scored in the first hour. Afterwards Ansari played very well, although maybe not a long-term option at four, and Roy rode his luck for 60 before getting out to an awful hack, showing why he averages 28 in FC with one 100 from 62 knocks. Riley bowled a long spell with good control and earned his four wickets. The highlight of the day for me was meeting Mickey Stewart!

Interested in Riley, has usurped Tredwell in the Kent team, and he's got some good figures. England prospect?

Could be, though at 22 he's still learning - or should be. I'm never sure how much performances in Div 2 (where Kent have been for a while) influence the selectors. And it doesn't help that he's a bit of a rabbit. Certainly behind the likes of Briggs and Kerrigan now (and possibly Dockrell, at some stage, though let's hope not) but one to watch.

Briggs a long way away now I would say. Doubt we will see him in the county championship for a good couple of months.

Kerrigan is basically the only option if they want to pick a specialist spinner that is not Monty.

Onions persisting with the long hop as his preferred method of attack.

Bairstow pulls it beautifully for four.
