Do you ever make a post that doesn't involve you stating the obvious?

Bit uncalled for Sledger ol' chap, rather in the nature of these threads to become a bit of a running commentary with asides, see the footie thread too.

Glad I'm not listening to the Hampshire Glos game anymore. Getting slaughtered

Adam Wheater showing what a decent batting depth does for your side, very useful and dangerous player to have coming in at eight, helped give Hants a lead of over 100 with one wicket left, 75 not out off 89 balls!

Yeah, I have had my issues with Wheater but this is the sort of innings that we signed him for and the sort that Bates could not play. I think we are a bowler light though, Vince and Ervine are not enough to make up a 4th bowler.

Bears scoring rate really kept the momentum with us throughout that last session. Didn't really want stumps to be honest, as they were getting flayed a bit (Anyon in particular). Good first hour and we should be setting them 300 + hopefully.

Does look a bit light in the bowling department, decent trio with Tomlinson, Abbott and Coles, but they do need the help of another specialist bowler in there.

Coles isn't really someone you can rely on as a pure bowler either is he?
Well he's a developing player isn't he at 23, still learning his trade and with that comes the inevitable inconsistency. He is 56 first-class games into his career and still has a pretty decent record taking 157 wickets at less than 30. Hopefully he is learning from his mistakes (on and off the field) and we will see even more from Coles this season and beyond.

He's very, very inconsistent. He's very much the fourth man in a four man attack, ideally. You can't bank on him to take wickets, and he can leak runs - but when he gets it right, he can be seriously impressive.

Also Morgan's 86 probably gets him into the Test team at #6 - we know how the selectors work. Perhaps Moeen can kick him out though; oh how sweet that would be.

Great work Ian Bell. He's inflicted a lot of pain on Sussex over the years - always seems to do well against us.

Beauty of a innings from Bell. Jeets turned the momentum with that innings. Our attack weaker than normal though with Olllie HD in. About the perfect day so far though.

Would take that as our top 3 tbh.

Somebody has to go big for Somerset. If the opposition put 450 on you in the first innings at Taunton then 20s-60s aren't good enough. They do bat to 11 though.
