Ridiculous and tragic !!

N. Srinivasan to become first chairman as ICC Board approves changes to governance, competition and financial models
The International Cricket Council Board on Saturday approved a comprehensive resolution relating to the governance, competition and financial models of the ICC at a meeting in Singapore. BCCI president N. Srinivasan will become ICC's first chairman from July 2014.

From July this year, Board of Control for Cricket in India president N. Srinivasan will become the first chairman of the International Cricket Council as the game's governing body will see a new set of rules related to governance, competition and financial models. However, the ICC Board will continue to be the primary decision-making body.

A new Executive Committee will be formed to report into the Board. The initial Chair of this Executive Committee (ExCo) will be Wally Edwards from Cricket Australia while the Chair of the Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee (F&CA) will continue to be Giles Clarke from the ECB. These roles will be for an initial two year transitional period to 2016 only.

Once this transitional period is completed, the Chair of the ICC Board will be elected from within the ICC Board with all Full Member Directors entitled to stand for election.

BCCI, CA and ECB - will be represented on both sub-committees, along with two representatives of the other Full Members (who will be elected by the Board).

Several of these decisions still now need to be considered and adopted by the ICC's Full Council. The relevant resolutions will now be drafted through the appropriate committees, including the Governance Committee and the Board before being submitted for approval to Full Council.

Wait, didn't this need votes from 7 member nations? What happened and who among SA, PCB, SLC, NZC sold out?

NZC were on board the whole time IIRC. CSA were the one who folded (as reported, complete with denial, a few days ago) and PCB/SLC decided to abstain.

Apparently his first job will be replacing all national anthems for the BCCI guitar song they play in all their broadcasts.

Of course it is greed pure and simple from BCCI that has guided every decision of their's for a couple of decades now but surely the other boards could have stood up to them. Someone had to call BCCI's bluff at the very beginning and refuse to yield - throwing them out of the ICC if required. All the money power that BCCI's muscle power comes from would dissipate if BCCI did not get to play the top nations of the world. Surely this was not difficult to grasp. So what guides the actions of those who have complied (others will too depending upon what they get purely in financial terms) ???

Finding it a little confusing following the structure. I presume the 2 sub comittees are ExCo and the F&CA. They are made up of 5 members but stacked with reps from the 3 colluding boards. Is that right so far?

So who makes up the ICC board? I'm sure the BCCI and its 2 doxies have stitched that up too but the details would be appreciated. So how many on the board and from where are the members drawn?

From there it appears the head mobster is elected as chair...

Absolutely, other nations never protest when something like this happens, and then they keep whining about being bullied by BCCI when something wrong happens. World cricket can do without the Indian team, boycotting BCCI would have done a world of good to cricket. Having said that, Aussies and Englishmen have dominated world cricket at some point of time, and even they haven't set a good example.

On a serious note. This is a sad day for cricket and honestly don't know what the other countries, especially CSA had to gain by falling meekly into line.
