The whole tour is going to be a exciting ordeal...India will win the One day series cause of the formidable batting line up.

Test series depends on the Indian bowlers...Akthar cannot win all 3 tests for Pakistan...may be 1 but Dravid,Shewag,Laxman,Ganguly and Sachin can win 3 tests for India if they carry on the form.
Batsmen don't win test matches - the Aus-India series was a case in point.

As you mention, the key to the test series is the performance of the Indian bowlers. Can they take 20 wkts against a talented, but perhaps fragile Pakistani batting line-up. A lot will obviously depend on Kumble - India's only proven world class bowler (at least in the absence of Harbhajan) - but he will need support from the seamers.

Very hard to call and I haven't seen much of Pakistan lately, but I'd pick them to shade the series, particularly if Shabbir plays and performs as his stats/reports suggest he has since making the team (similar to Glenn McGrath?).

Shabbir is the Pakistani workhorse.
He is capable of bowling Long, very long spells on a nagging line and length and is capable of generating bounce.
[He proved that at home against SA and in NZ.]
He is not very pacey, 130-140 k, usually and it is seldom that he croses the 140 barrier but if he gets into his rhythm his line and length can be immaculate.

I don't think a Pakistan series will ever be considered a cake walk by reasonable Indians. They will always play out of their skins against India it's not really current form that counts in a Pak-Ind series, it is intensity, ability to handle the huge pressure, aggression that counts(has counted throughout their cricketing history).

Isn't over-aggression the reason for the decline of every Indian pace bowling attack?

No, it's lack of pace, lack of adherence to basic principles of line and length, lack of fighting attitude(hanging heads when they get hit)......

God, another one replies to a thread made over a year ago as if it were yesterday!!!!
This thread refers to last spring's tour in Pakistan, not the upcoming one in India.
