Will this side challenge a top 3 ranking in test cricket

Obviously there is nothing common in all these blokes just tried to make a combination of cricketers who are part of their side's first XI or First bench but are also not the main lynchpin for their teams and the team is not severly weak in their absence maybe barring Angelo but then needed a skipper. On a spinning track we can go with Rehman/Shillingford but when going for a 3 pacer option we bring in Yadav for Shilli.

why? There are very little holes in this side maybe apart from openers thought of going for Rogers for Hafeez but realized Rogers may well be considered a core for his side. I can see this side beating Pak,SL away from sub cont/UAE. Will trouble Eng, Aus in spinning conditions.

No way would it beat Aus/SA/Eng. Bowling is pissweak.

fap and starceh would probably take down england by themselves, wouldnt beat any other teams though

This side will regularly be 40/3. Fortunes will depend massively on whether Watson and Samuels play their once-in-a-series good innings in the same innings. On other occasions though there'll be too much pressure on FaF. Bowling is piss weak as has already been alluded to. Pretty sure you could replace Yadav and Finn with a couple of reserve Aussie fringe bowlers and the bowling attack would immediately become stronger..Pattinson and Bird maybe?

EDIT : Pattinson is not "fringe"strictly speaking but he's not part of the XI now so yeah...

What about former Australian test captain, Shane Watson, who is already in your team.

It wouldn't be awful IMO. Would be better than say the bottom 3 'real' sides you'd think.

Its a pretty good team, bowling is not weak, Finn and Starc, a dangerous combination IMO. Yadav can be a weak link as he lacks that control but with Matthews and Watson in the side, you have enough variety in the pace bowling department. Shillingford and Rehman is also an interesting duo on turning tracks along with Hafeez, Faf and Samuels as part time spinners.

Batting lineup is quite unpredictable, they can score huge or can just out under 150. Its not stable at all.

Wouldn't challenge for top three but would almost definitely comfortably take care of the lesser test nations (Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka).
