The XI that started the Asia Cup Final

Ankush BAINS - (18) - (wk) - Himachal Pradesh
Akhil HERWADKAR - (19) - Mumbai
Vijay ZOL - (19) - (Captain) - Maharashtra
Sanju SAMSON - (19) (wk) - Kerala
Sarfaraz KHAN - (16) - Mumbai
Ricky BHUI - (17) - Andhra Pradesh
Deepak HOODA - (18) - (seam) - Baroda
Aamir GANI - (17) - (off-spin) - Bengal
Kuldeep YADAV - (19) - (chinaman-googly) - Uttar Pradesh
Avesh KHAN - (17) - (seam) - Madhya Pradesh
Chama MILIND - (19) - (seam) - Hyderabad

Shreyas IYER - (19) - Mumbai
Karan KAILA - (19) - (sla spin) - Punjab
Monu Kumar SINGH - (19) - (seam) - Jharkhand
Atit SHETH - (17) - (seam) - Baroda

The India-U19s selectors have not tinkered much with the combination that won the Asia Cup in the UAE earlier this month, making just one change in the 15-player squad named for the World Cup - which will be played at the same venues - in February: medium-pacer Atit Sheth comes in, in place of left-armer Rishi Arothe.

Pritam Chakraborty, who was in the Asia Cup sixteen, misses out as he will be overage by the time the World Cup begins.

Vijay Zol, who had scored a match-winning hundred for the team against Pakistan in the Asia Cup final, will continue to lead. Zol also played a key role for Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy quarter-final last week, scoring an unbeaten 91 to help them run down a target of 252 to dump domestic giants Mumbai out of the competition. He is one of only two players in the squad with previous World Cup experience, having been part of the squad that won the title in Australia in 2012. The other is batsman Akhil Herwadkar, who had scored a century and a fifty in five games in the Asia Cup.

Kerala wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson, who made headlines last week after he was the youngest player retained by an IPL franchise ahead of the 2014 season - he was held back by Rajasthan Royals - is also part of the fifteen. Samson had also scored a hundred in the Asia Cup final.

Sheth is not a completely new face on the U-19 circuit, having played in the away series against Sri Lanka in August 2013, and the quadrangular series in Visakhapatnam in September that also included Australia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. He played four games in all, in those two series, claiming five wickets.

Bharat Arun, the long-time India U-19 coach, who was also part of the successful World Cup campaign in 2012, will continue to coach the side.

India are slotted into Group A at the World Cup, also with Pakistan, Scotland and Papua New Guinea. Their opening game is against Pakistan, on February 15, in Dubai.

CA always have a policy of releasing players for the World Youth Cup,and Mcdermott not got a game for the Heat, and Burns back soon, and Mcdermott only a replacement.

Only Bazley really as a new player ?

They picked Mortimer and Short. Maybe due to experience they already gained on tours. So didn't want too many uncapped players in alien conditions.

I know SA took a risk by picking 4 new players that are uncapped.

The West Indies Squad has been announced:

Ramaal Lewis (17, Jamaica, Batsman/Spinner) – Captain
Nicholas Pooran (18, T&T, Wicket Keeper) – Vice Captain
Fabian Allen (18, Jamaica, Batsman/Spinner)
Tagenarine Chanderpaul (17, Guyana, Opening Batsman)
Bryan Charles (18, T&T, Batsman/Spinner)
Tristan Coleman (19, Jamaica, Batsman)
Jonathan Drakes (19, Barbados, Batsman)
Shimron Hetmeyer (17, Guyana, Opening Batsman)
Jerome Jones (18, Barbados, Seamer)
Ray Jordan (19, Windward Islands, Faaaaaaaaaaaaast Bowler)
Brandon King (19, Jamaica, Batsman)
Preston McSween (18, Windward Islands, Seamer)
Marquino Mindley (19, Jamaica, Seamer)
Gudakesh Motie (18, Guyana, Spinner)
Jeremy Solozano (18, T&T, Opening Batsman)

As I previously mentioned, we have an extremely talented bowling attack for Under 19 level, but the batting is as weak as it has been for a long time. Ray Jordan is incredibly quick (but may well have a dodgy bowling action), Mindley and Mcsween are excellent swing bowlers and as you would expect given conditions in the West Indies nowadays, we have a good collection of front line and part time spinners.

This is always fun to watch on the tv just to see if there are any sickos coming through. Always fun to look at the speed gun to see where the next potential out and out quick bowler is coming from.

Guess De Kock has been the breakout star of the previous tournament.

Sodhi, Anamul Haque, Ehsan Adil, Brathwaite all have played test cricket but De Kock is the one who has really stood out.

Yeah, I heard he was called for throwing a while back. Do you know if any work has been done with him to address the concerns about his action?
