30/40 players missing in action won't be back this season.
Dunno if Cricinfo will cover it or the ZCB will censore it.

Didn't even think it would go ahead
If you go back a few years on this site you'll see me all excited for what a great domestic structure it had become.

It's the same structure this season but it's now glorified park cricket. No-one's going to get paid so no-one will be able to commit to it full time; if the players have time they'll play anyway out of love for the game and I suppose a chance to become centrally contracted if they do really well, but the financial situation regarding this competition is a complete disaster.

A set of bails for the stumps cost Z$30,000,000.00 so with prices like that who can blame someone for not wanting to play!

2 games on tonight no cricinfo coverage, must be a dispute with cricinfo and zcu,or cricinfo doesn't cover their games like in Bangladesh or New Zealand.Shame tho.

Very low grade performances by the 4 sides, scraecely crossing 150 in either game.Very few known players playing last night.Real sparse.

Mupariwa batted six in a game yesterday and Sean Williams bowled first change. They both did well in those roles too.

This season is certainly going to be fun if nothing else.

63* off 222 balls today for young opening batsman Brian Chari. Jesus. Hope he can make it through to stumps; can't remember the last time I saw a batsman literally bat out the entire day with no loss of play and not ton up.

He got out two balls later. My jinxing is obviously more threatening than the Rocks bowling.

Seems the international Zimbabwe batsmen doing a lot of bowling,Taylor tons up,there must be something in it for the bowlers in both matches.

The structures in place at the moment are going to really create a gulf between the centrally contracted players and everyone else, especially if they remain as they are for a few years. We're probably going to start seeing more of bowlers batting in the top six and batsmen bowling a lot of overs unless things start improving, and it'll become seriously important to fast-track genuine young talent into the centrally contracted players group to avoid players giving up the game or having their talented squandered by a lack of available infrastructure.

Ideally the financial situation of domestic cricket would improve so none of that became a bigger issue than it already is, but if this goes on longer than just this season then there will be disastrous consequences. Ireland and Afghanistan are coming to get them.

50 up for Vermeulen on his return to Mashonaland.

I wonder if he still holds out any hope for a Test recall. I still straight up think he should be in the T20I side.
