When he’s not being a massively self obsessed **** I find his cricket views on twitter quite interesting. But it’s not translating to commentary because he’s such a smug bell end

Stephen Fleming and BMac have been good this summer. Much more insight.

Still can't stand Cumming and sometimes McMillan.

Hockley and Murdoch are awful. Katey Martin and Frankie McKay have been a welcome addition.

Also, I see we are going down the path of a specialist host with James Gemmell. Not sure how I feel about him yet.
Agree with all of this, although I can stand Murdoch. I don't care if it's a male or female voice, the voice can't be boring monotone, and so many of the new ones are, I find Rolls in this category.

Even if a commentator has wonderful insights, if their voice grates, I'm out. I wonder how much thought, training, practice goes into this, and it seems to be voice tone etc isn't a consideration. I would like to see more journo's or radio broadcasters involved, again if their voice stacks up, 7 did this in AU when they shared the rights with Foxtel, adding the likes of Tim Lane, Allison Mitchell etc.

Sky's commentary box has been decimated over the last couple of years with retirements. Had no issues with Botham or Bumble going but Gower and Holding are huge losses. Just leaves Ward as the anchor and Atherton/Nass as the only real mainstays. Surprised Butcher hasn't been around but maybe he's at the Blast. Doull's fine as the 'away' commentator and Taylor/Jones as the 'neutral' Aussie are good value too. Leaves a lot of gaps and that's where filler like Gough and KP come in. I bet Sky wished Broad retired in a funk after the WI - he'd have walked straight into the box.

I'd replace Taylor with someone more interesting if they're going for a neutral. Dunno if he'd be up for the gig, but Ponting's a great commentator. Dale Steyn as well.

It’s a very low bar with the current nitwits on Sky, but David Gower has been good after inadvertently ending up back on Sky.

Boycott is my favorite commentator. Had an air of certain authority that no one else had. Spoke his mind without any fear even if it was controversial.
