Winning a test in SA asterisk or not is nothing special anyway. Over the past five years or so SA has dropped tests to Pakistan, West Indies, India, Australia, Sri Lanka and England. They're actually more vulnerable at home than away in many respects. They are always vulnerable when they select Tahir.
Oh gimme a break
A team full of youngsters, most of them on their first tour overseas beating the No. 1 side when everyone expected a hiding is not special? Gtfo

Asterix my foot, we'll talk about asterixes in that match where we let Abd of all the people score 33(220) after losing our best bowler and resorting to bowling part timers. It's obviously not good to see someone injured, hope he is fine and everything but he can take rest for another month, doesn't matter one bit. A win is a win from a team PoV. In other news, Philander for some reason is really annoying. Can't wait to see him mouth off when he bowls on a dead subcontinent wicket.

It is a bit pissing off that, if India win, there will be an asterisk on this match with Morkel's injury . Wish he had been there.
There will be no asterisk. We were on top at that stage anyway. Injuries are injuries, no way should that take away from the win.
Am asterisk would be Australia vs Pakistan at Sydney because of all the suspicion. It passes me off that you'd brand this match that way. It'll be one of our ll time great victories if we pull it off

Just pointed out that weak looking Windies and Lankan teams have beaten them, the latter convincingly when SA was highly fancied. Hardly surprising they are getting right on top too when SA has Tahir but no Morkel for most of the second innings. No excuse for their brittle batting though a trend that has continued for some years with them having some big collapses at times, even on home soil.

Pakistan did not win in SA, SA and Aus are their bogey teams; they hardly ever beat them anywhere. It's a young team we have here and for them to do this well is impressive. We selected Ishant to balance Tahir's selection. If their selection policies are stupid that is not India's fault.

Quite so. It's also a wake-up call to those suggesting that India's series in England next summer will be a doddle for the hosts. Wrong thread, I know, but this Indian side is showing some promising signs, almost whatever happens now in this series.

Nothing like youth to give a team a boost. Look what de Kock did for SA in the ODIs which they were probably expected to lose to India.

Well the batting looked good and you would expect a couple of them to prove more than useful away from home out of so much talent so that was always going to happen. The key is the pace attack, was the first innings here a flash in the pan? If not then sides have their work cut out at home to India.

Pakistan did win a test in SA not too long ago, the middle test of a three test series. Every country bar NZ has won in SA over the past five years or so. NZ really struggles in SA because of their poor batting, though they have shone against the woeful Windies.

Pujara is down there like a boss Get me if you can style  Could he go undefeated on this tour? (The first innings run-out doesn't count in that sense).

Yo Briony. Remember a certain SAF side beating the Australians back in the mid-90s. That wasn't anything special either, right? I mean, the Australians got beat all the time, so you know...

2006-2007 is not 5 years ago. Anyways...India need to bat at least 40 overs into tomorrow to have a good enough lead.
