International cricketers who should retire from a particular format

Kallis averaging 45 over the next 2 years, which would drop his average down however much, is still better for South Africa than bringing in a specialist batsman who averages 40.
This is the key point which so many seem incapable of understanding.

it's amazing to think that these guys are and have been that much better consistently that a relatively poor year by their standards would still be beneficial to the team.

On the other hand, there is the value of actually getting to develop players or at least seeing whether they'll sink or swim at international level.

Development is what A series are for.
Yeah but at some point you need to see how they go on the big stage rather than just against those in a similar position, also, 'A' tours are not regular fixtures, if cricket boards are serious about development in this way they would need to schedule more

Seen Kallis' missus? FMD he must really love the game to stay away so much from home.

Kallis is single now.

Kallis and Smith both should retire from limitted overs and Duminy and Faf from tests and ODIs.
